Mona Siddiqui

Mona Siddiqui is Professor of Islamic Studies and Public Understanding at the University of Glasgow and the Director of the Centre for the Study of Islam. Her research and publications are in the field of classical Islamic law and theology, Qur'an, gender and contemporary ethics. Professor Siddiqui lectures internationally on religion and society, Inter-religious issues and for the five years has been working with the Archbishop of Canterbury on a seminar series entitled 'Building Bridges.'

Professor Siddiqui works with a wide range of media organisations and writes for the Herald and the Scotsman frequently. She is the only Muslim woman to work regularly with the BBC on religious and ethical issues in broadcasting and is a regular contributor to the prolific 'Thought for the Day' slot for BBC Scotland and BBC Radio 4. She is currently the Chair of the Scottish Religious Advisory Committe for the BBC. She was awarded the McCord Ecumenical prize from Princeton's Centre for Theological Inquiry in 2005 and in the same year became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and the Royal Society of Edinburgh. She is married with three children.
