Prof. A. O. Adegbulugbe, 52, is a Professor of Energy Systems Planning and Management. Between July 2005 and May 2007 he was the Special Adviser on Energy Matters to the President of Nigeria During the same period he was a member of the cabinet level Economic management team of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Prof. Adegbulugbe received the Bachelor of Science degree (First Class) in Electronics/Electrical Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria in 1976 and a Doctor of Science degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Cambridge, USA in 1981.
He was a recipient of many academic distinction and awards such as:
Prof. Adegbulugbe was Coordinating Lead Author (CLA) of IPCC publications such as the Third Technical Assessment Report, Fourth Assessment Report, and Report on CO2 capture and storage. He was appointed a member of the Expert Group on Technology Transfer (EGTT) of the UNFCCC from 2001-2004. In addition, Prof. Adegbulugbe has contributed to UNFCCC activities by serving as member of the Nigerian Delegation/negotiating team to COP 7,8 and 9 and member of various renew teams on GHG (Green House Gases) inventory of countries such as UCA, UK, Latria, Ireland, Switzerland, Bulgaria amongst others.
Prof. Adegbulugbe has served as consultant on energy and environment matters to many national and international organizations such as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), World Bank, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) etc. He has contributed over 60 articles in international energy and environment journals and conferences.
