President Kavan Meets German Foreign Minister Fischer
1 November - GA President Jan Kavan Met German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer. Possibilities of UN General Assembly revitalisation were among the discussed topics as well as preparations of the panel discussion on situation in Afghanistan one year after adopting the Bonn Agreement.

In an effort to revitalize the work of the UN General Assembly, the President of the General Assembly is organizing a panel which would discuss the situation in Afghanistan one year after the adoption of the Bonn Agreement with the focus on the role of the United Nations.
Between 21-29 October 2002, the President of the General Assembly has already conducted consultations with a number of representatives of the Member States, UN Secretariat, and possible panelists.
