Jan Kavan meets with Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteer Programme
2 October - During their meeting Mrs. Sharon Capeling-Alakija, Executive Coordinator of the United Nations Volunteer Programme (UNV) briefed G.A. President Kavan on the accomplishments of the International Year of Volunteers (2001) in particular the role played by UN volunteers during the recent floods in the Czech Republic. They agreed that the International Year of Volunteers had been a milestone in helping to built the necessary network and infrastructure for the future work of the UNV Programme.
