Permanent Representative of Mongolia meets President Kavan
24 September - In their review of issues before the 57th General Assembly, Permanent Representative Jargalsaikhany Enkhsaikhan of Mongolia and President Kavan discussed the upcoming debate in the Second Committee on landlocked developing countries as well as preparations for the United Nations Literacy Decade: Education for All beginning in 2003 in cooperation with UNESCO. The nuclear-free weapons status of Mongolia was also discussed as well as the International Conference on New and Restored Democracies to be held in June 2003 in Ulaanbaator.
