President Kavan meets with Foreign Minister of Lebanon
20 September - Minister Mahmoud Hammoud discussed his recent visit to the Czech Republic and his conversation with Czech President Havel. F.M. Hammoud informed GA President Kavan about the increasing tensions between Lebanon and Israel concerning the use of water from south Lebanon rivers and that Lebanon had the right to use up to 30% of the waters according to a 1953 agreement. F.M. Hammoud hoped that the problem could be solved with the help of US experts. The Foreign Minister also informed President Kavan about the positive work done by UNIFIL in his country.
