President Kavan Meets Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan of China
14 September – Foreign Minister Tang thanked Mr. Kavan for the effective way in which he presided over the General Committee. He also expressed his support of the President in carrying out his duties and of his commitment to UN reform. On the question of Iraq, Foreign Minister Tang and President Kavan agreed that relevant UN resolutions should be implemented. The meeting also touched on development issues, including the connection between the Millennium Development goals, the Monterrey Consensus and the outcome of the World Summit on Sustainable Development.
