presided over a resumption of the tenth emergency special session In the morning, Dr. Han presided over a resumption of the tenth emergency special session which was convened to consider the item entitled "Illegal Israeli actions in Occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory". At the end of the meeting the Assembly is expected to adopt draft resolution A/ES-10/L. 9. Then Dr. Han attended the commitment of the world's religions to children on the occasion of the United Nations Special Session on Children. He delivered remarks at the event. There was presentation of outcomes from the briefing by religious practitioners "Leading by Example" held on 6 May and was discussion of the principles and strategies for multi-religious cooperation on behalf of children. In his remarks, Dr. Han said "Over thousands of years and in countless communities religious bodies have borne the primary burden of providing basic social services to those who need them most and can least afford them-above all, children. Thus, we look overriding issue of children's welfare." Full text of the delivery of the remarks at the acceptance of the Declaration of Religious Leaders In the afternoon, Dr. Han met with the Chairman of the Council of Presidents of the General Assembly, Ambassador Samir S. Shihabi. Dr. Han presided over the emergency special session of the General Assembly in the afternoon. Later in the afternoon, Dr. Han attended Evening Multi-Religious Service and delivered remarks. In his remarks, he said "The UN Special Session on Children is a striking indication of the growing public awareness of the urgency of issues directly affecting children. It is rare indeed for so many world leaders to gather together to consider a single topic, especially one outside the normal bounds of diplomacy and world politics. But in recent decades, the dire situated countless children, particularly with regard to armed conlfict and the spread of HIV/AIDS, has captured the attention of global public opinion. The world's leaders have responded to this upsurge of concern in various ways, culminated in the UN General Assembly Special Session on Children."
