Plenary meeting continued today

The General Assembly Plenary meeting continued today under the presidency of Dr. Han. The question of equitable representation on and increase in the membership of the Security Council and related matters were discussed. The speakers were Kuwait, Italy, New Zealand, Argentina, Indonesia, Germany, Belarus, Republic of Korea, Guatemala, Ukraine, Finland, Russian Federation, Pakistan, Tunisia, Spain, Ireland, United Arab Emirates, Brazil, Brunei Darussalam, Thailand, Viet Nam, China, Mexico, Czech Republic, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Canada, Nigeria, San Marino, Islamic Republic of Iran, Poland, France, Turkey, Slovakia, Armenia, Ghana, Uruguay, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Madagascar, Myanmar, Croatia, South Africa, Romania, Paraguay, Chile, Israel, Ethiopia, Venezuela, Kazakhstan, Botswana and Iraq.

A resolution on the Dialogue among Civilizations was adopted but the Assembly postponed taking action regarding the resolution to fix new dates for the Special Session on Children. In the coming two weeks, the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions and the Fifth Committee will consider the programme budget implications of the resolution.
