met with the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union; convened
a meeting with the Chairmen of the Regional Groups

Dr. Han met with the Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Mr. Anders Johnsson today. They exchanged views on the way to promote the cooperation between the UN and the IPU.
Later in the afternoon, Dr. Han convened a meeting with the Chairmen of the Regional Groups. In the meeting, they confirmed the dates for the Special Session on Children and dates for the plenary meetings on the item of Dialogue among Civilizations. Election of the Bureau Members of the Fourth Committee, and time Allotment of speeches during the General Debate were discussed. Dr. Han informed Regional Group Chairs that a consensus was reached among the Member States to change the dates for the plenary meetings on the item of Dialogue among civilizations to 8-9 November and on the dates for the Special Session on Children to 8-10 May 2002. Dr. Han stressed to Group Chairs that, in order to complete the General Debate in time, speakers would have to keep their speeches within 15 minutes.
