President
presides over General Committee; Election of 18 members of the Economic
and Social Council was held in the Plenary meeting; President met with
Mr. Amre Moussa, Secretary General of Arab League

Dr. Han presided over General committee, which decided to recommend the inclusion of an additional item, entitled “United Nations year for cultural heritage, 2002” in the agenda of the current session.
At General Assembly Plenary Meeting, there was an election of 18 members of the Economic and Social Council for the term of 2002-2004. The elected members are Burundi, Ghana, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya, Zimbabwe, Bhutan, China, India, Qatar, Hungary, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Chile, El Salvador, Guatemala, Australia, Finland, Sweden and United Kingdom.
Dr. Han met with Mr.
Amre Moussa, Secreatry General of the Arab League who briefed the President
on his recent visit to the U.S. They also exchanged the views on the prospects
of discussion on measures to fight terrorism in the United Nations.
