President
met with the President of ECOSOC, H. E. Mr. Martin Belinga-Eboutou; had
luncheon with Chairs of Main Committees; met with Dr. Perera, Chairman
of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elimination of International Terrorism

In the morning, Dr. Han had video recording of interview with H. E. Ahmad Kamal at UN TV Studio H.
Dr. Han met with the President of ECOSOC, H. E. Mr. Martin Belinga-Eboutou. They discussed mutual issues of concern including close working relationship between the General Assembly and ECOSOC.
Luncheon with Chairs of Main Committees was followed. Dr. Han received briefs from the Chairs of Main Committees on the progress in the work of each committee.
In the afternoon, Dr. Han met with the Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom, H. E. Sir Jeremy Greenstock, in his capacity as Chairman of the Counter-Terrorism Committee along with Vice-Chairs, the Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation, H. E. Mr. Sergey V. Lavrov, the Permanent Representative of Colombia, H. E. Mr. Alfonso Valdivieso and the Permanent Representative of Mauritius, H. E. Mr. Jagdish Koonjul.
Dr. Han also met with Dr. Rohan Perera, the Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee on the Elimination of International Terrorism in the 6th Committee, and discussed the progress made in the Ad Hoc Committee. Dr. Han expressed hope that the work of the Committee on the comprehensive convention on terrorism would soon be substantially materialzed.
Later in the afternoon, Dr. Han met with the Director-General of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons based in Hague, Netherlands, H. E. Mr. Jose M. Bustani. They shared their views on the importance of strengthening the mechanism for prohibiting chemical weapons, particularly in view of the recent terrorist attacks in the US.
Today is United Nations
Day, hence, special event celebrating United Nations Day took place in
General Assembly Hall at 7:00 pm. The President and Mrs. Han attended
the concert tonight performed by rock band “Euphoria” from India and “Junoon”
from Pakistan. Mime artist Mr. Marcel Marceau also performed.
