The General Assembly Plenary Session continues.  President  meets with Representative of the World Bank to the UN; meets with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait

Dr. Han continued presiding over the General Assembly Plenary Session today.  The report of the General Committee on the organization of the session and the allocation of agenda items were discussed. The General Assembly also decided formally to reschedule the debate to future dates.

Dr. Han hosted a luncheon for Mr. Chen Jian USG and the staff of DGAACS discussing how to run the General Assembly effectively.

In the afternoon, Dr. Han had a meeting with Mr. Eduardo Doryan, Representative of the World Bank to the UN. Discussions focused on the cooperation between the General Assembly and the World Bank. Among the Millennium Declarations, the achievement of international development goals cannot be made without the active involvement of international financial institutions, and especially of the World Bank.  Dr. Han requested a continuous support and cooperation of the Bank for the International Conference on Financing for Development, which is scheduled to be held in March 2002 in Mexico.

Meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, Mr. Sheikh Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah was followed later in the afternoon. They exchanged their views and prospective of the 56th General Assembly.
