The President of the General Assembly has learned with great sorrow about the untimely death of His Excellency Mr. Humayun Rasheed Choudhury of Bangladesh on 10 July.
Mr. Choudhury was the president of the forty-first session of the General Assembly in 1986. In addition, during his long and very distinguished diplomatic career, he served as Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh from 1985 to 1988 as well as Ambassador of Bangladesh to various countries. He represented his country at a large number of international conferences, including United Nations conferences and other meetings. A Member of Parliament of Bangladesh for several years, he was the Speaker of the National Assembly at the time of his death. A skillful negotiator and diplomat, he will be remembered for his devotion to his country and to the ideals and principles of the United Nations.
On behalf of the General Assembly, the President expresses his deepest condolences
to the Government and people of Bangladesh and to the bereaved family of Mr.
Choudhury.
