The President today met with the two facilitators of the preparatory process of the HIV/AIDS special session, H.E. Ms. Penny Wensley, Permanent Representative of Australia and H.E. Mr. Ibra Deguène Ka, Permanent Representative of Senegal. The facilitators forwarded to the President the draft declaration of commitment and gave a summary of the process of consultations leading to this paper. The substantive secretariat, UNAIDS, was also present in the meeting. An outline of the next steps in the preparatory process was also given to the President. Discussions on the basis of the draft paper will resume after Easter.

Later in the day the president attended a dinner, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ross in honour of the Executive Committee meeting of the World Federation of the United Nations Associations (WFUNA).
