Mr. Holkeri today addressed the 4th annual Staff Security Summit. In his statement he called for Member States to fully implement international agreements on staff security and to signal a clear message that humanitarian workers cannot be attacked with impunity. The upcoming United Nations Conference on the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons was in the focus during the President's meeting with the chairman of the conference prepcom, Ambassador Carlos dos Santos of Mozambique and Mr. Joao Honwana, Chief of the Conventional Arms Branch at the Department for Disarmament Affairs.

The President today also met with the representatives of Staff Security.
