The General Assembly today adopted a resolution on preparations for substantive preparatory process and the International Conference on Financing for Development. The Assembly also reopened consideration of supporting the efforts of Governments to promote and consolidate new or restored democracies and acted on the resolution.

The President met with H.E. Mr. Arthur Mbanefo, Permanent Representative of Nigeria, H.E. Mr. Michael Duval, Deputy Permanent Representative of Canada, Mr. Julian Vassallo, First Secretary of the Permanent Mission of Malta and Mr. Özdinch Mustafa, Chief of General Assembly Servicing Branch to discuss the consideration of the report
of the Special Committee on Peace Keeping in Fourth Committee and the Plenary.

Later in the day Mr. Holkeri met with Ambassador Valdes of Chile to discuss the revitalization of the General Assembly.
