The President attended a United Nations Day concert by the Vienna Symphony, which was held in the General Assembly Hall. The President met with the Chairman of Forum of Small States (FOSS), Ambassador Kishore Mahbubani of Singapore. They discussed the follow-up to the Millennium Summit, the revitalization of the General Assembly and the forthcoming meeting of FOSS, at which the President has been invited to make an address.

During his meeting with Mr. Holkeri, the Permanent Observer of Switzerland, H.E. Mr. Jeno C.A. Staehelin took up the upcoming World Information and Communication Technology (ICT) conference to be held in 2003 under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), as well as other issues related to information and communications technology.

The President also met with the President of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea, H.E. Mr. P Chandrasekhara Rao, and the Registrar of the Tribunal, Mr. Gritakumar E. Chitty to discuss work of the Tribunal. The General Assembly will discuss this issue on 26th October.
