Today, the last day of General Debate, the General Assembly
heard speeches by Foreign Ministers from Eritrea and Mauritius.
The Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs from Nicaragua and representatives
from Rwanda, Antigua and Barbuda, United Republic of Tanzania,
Venezuela, Benin and Equatorial Guinea also spoke. Several
delegations used their right for reply.
The President concluded the General Debate by summing up the
main themes of the debate which included the role of the United
Nations in the maintenance of peace and security, reform of
the Security Council and the need to implement the goals and
commitments of the Millennium Summit. The full text of Mr.

Following his morning meeting with the Honorable Anil Kumarsingh
Gayan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Co-operation
of Mauritius, Mr. Holkeri attended to a reception hosted by
the Minister.
