The President returned to New York yesterday after a week-long
visit to South-East Asia where he visited the United Nations
operation in East Timor. He also briefly visited Singapore
and Indonesia for discussions relating to East Timor.
The President met with the Parliamentary Supervisory Council
of the Bank of Finland headed by Finnish MP Mr. Ilkka Kanerva.
After their meeting Mr. Holkeri hosted a luncheon for the
visiting members of the Council.
Later in the day, the President attended a dinner hosted by
the Consul-General of Finland, Mr. Jukka Leino, in the honor
of the Parliamentary Supervisory Council of the Bank of Finland.
