Mr. Holkeri presided over the General Assembly's continued Tenth Emergency Special Session on Illegal Israeli Actions in Occupied East Jerusalem and the rest of the Occupied Palestinian Territory. The Assembly demanded an end to violence in the occupied Palestinian territory and expressed support for the understandings reached at the Sharm el-Sheikh Summit in Egypt.

In the morning the General Assembly met on the issues of cooperation between the United Nations and Council of Europe and with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The President also met with the Director of the Political Section of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Austria, Mr. Walther Lichem. During their meeting, the President's upcoming visit to Vienna in connection with the 21st General Assembly of the Conference of Non-Governmental Organizations's in Consultative Status with the United Nations (CONGO) was discussed.
