Today the President met with Mr. Jean-Marie Guéhenno, Under-Secretary-General
for Peacekeeping Operations. They discussed the continuing
implementation of the Brahimi Report and the work under way
in the Secretariat towards a Comprehensive Review of Department
of Peace-keeping Operations(DPKO).
The President met with H.E. Mr. Mohammad A. Abulhasan, Permanent
Representative of Kuwait. The discussion centered on the President's
recent initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of the General
Assembly. The President underlined the need to proceed with
full transparency and openness, as well as with due regard
for Member States' priorities.
The President attended luncheon hosted by H.E. Mr. Pertti
Ripatti.
Later in the day the President was the guest of honor in dinner,
hosted by H.E. Mr. Richard Ryan, Permanent Representative
of Ireland.
