On the occasion of World Food Day Mr. Holkeri attended a luncheon
ceremony hosted by the Chairman, Mr. John Ruan, and the President,
H.E. Mr. Kenneth M. Quinn, of the World Food Prize Foundation
honoring the Millennium World Food Prize Laureates.
The President today conducted the General Assembly elections
for seven members of the Committee for Programme and Coordination
and 17 members of the United Nations Commission on International
Trade Law. The General Assembly also appointed one member
of the Committee on Contributions.
The President met with the Chef de Cabinet and Under-Secretary-General
of the Executive Office of the Secretary General, Mr. Iqbal
S. Riza who briefed the President about his discussions with
the Secretary- General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Kofi
Annan, who is at the Summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
