Mr. Holkeri presided over the General Assembly elections for judges of the International Tribunal for the Prosecution of Persons Responsible for Serious Violations of International Humanitarian Law Committed in the Territory of the Former Yugoslavia since 1991. The fourteen judges elected for a four-year term represent following countries: Australia, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Guyana, Italy, Jamaica, Malta, Netherlands, Republic of Korea, United Kingdom, USA and Zambia.

The President met with Ms. Aino Penttilä, Secretary-General of the Women's League of the National Coalition Party of Finland.

Later on the day the President was the guest of honour in a dinner hosted by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboulgheit, Permanent Representative of Egypt.
