The President presided over a panel discussion of the Plenary
of the General Assembly on Information and Communication Technology
(ICT) in Development. The speakers in the panel were Ambassador
Makarim Wibisono of Indonesia, President of the Economic and
Social Council; Mr. Matts Karlsson, Vice-President of the
World Bank; Mr. Patrizio Civili, Assistant Secretary-General
for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs; and Mr.
Mark Malloch Brown, Administrator of the United Nations Development
Programme.
Prior to the panel, the President hosted a luncheon for the
participants of the ICT in Development panel.
The President met with the co-facilitators of the HIV/AIDS
special session, the members of UNAIDS Secretariat and the
General Assembly Secretariat, to discuss issues related to
the first informal meeting of the plenary on the special session,
to be held on Friday 15 December.
The President met separately with the Permanent Representative
of the Republic of Belarus, H.E. Mr. Sergei Ling and with
the Charge d'affaires of Uganda, H.E. Mr. Daudi Taliwaku.
