The General Assembly discussed the United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations, which will be observed in year 2001. The Assembly decided to devote 2 days of plenary meetings on 3rd and 4th December next year to the consideration of this item and encouraged Member States to be represented at the highest level.

The President met with the Assistant Secretary-General for Policy Coordination and Inter-Agency Affairs, Mr. Patrizio Civili, who briefed the President on the recent meeting of the Administrative Committee on Coordination. A photograph of their meeting can be viewed on the "Photos" page.
