The President today presided over a meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on Security Council reform. The President of the Security Council for the month of June, Ambassador Chowdhury of Bangladesh attended the meeting together with two other members of the Council, Ambassador Greenstock of the United Kingdom and Ambassador Valdivieso of Colombia. The Working Group had a very useful and interesting interactive discussion on the working methods of the Council, and more meetings of a similar nature were called for.

The President today met with H.R. H. Princess Lalla Meryem, head of the Moroccan Delegation to the Preparatory Committee for the Special Session of the General Assembly for the follow-up to the World Summit for Children.

Mr. Holkeri discussed the ongoing meeting of the Preparatory Committee also during his meeting with H.E Mr. Yehuda Lancry, Permanent Representative of Israel and H.E. Mr. Aaron Jacob, Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel.

In another meeting Mr. Holkeri met with Mr. Seth Berkley, M.D., president and CEO of International AIDS Vaccine Initiative.
