Today the President hosted a luncheon to Under-Secretaries-General, with H.E. Mr. Gabriel Valdes, Permanent Representative of Chile and the President's facilitator on improving the General Assembly's working methods, also attending. The discussion centered on the topic of enhancing the GA's functioning.

The Open-ended Working Group on Security Council reform continued its work today with Mr. Holkeri presiding over its fourth meeting. The Working Group continued discussing items related to the veto. President's opening remarks for the meeting ara available on the "Statements and Messages" page.

The President met with the facilitators for the preparatory process of the HIV/AIDS Special Session H.E. Ms. Penny Wensley, Permanent Representative of Australia and H.E. Mr. Ibra Deguène Ka, Permanent Representative of Senegal, to discuss the ongoing preparations for the Special Session.

The President attended a reception on the occasion of the National Day of the Republic of Mauritius hosted by H.E. Mr. Anund Priyay Newoor, Permanent representative of Mauritius.

H.E. Mr. Bob Jalang'o, Permanent Representative of Kenya, paid a courtesy call to the President.
