The President today held his monthly meeting with the Chairpersons of the five Regional Groups. Arrangements for the Special Session on Children, revitalization of the General Assembly and the work of the open-ended working groups on Africa and Security Council reform were among issues discussed during the meeting. The President today met with H.E. Mr. Kimmo Sasi, Minister of Foreign Trade of Finland and Head of Finland's delegation to the ongoing Small Arms Conference.

A meeting between the President and H.E. Mr. Yukio Satoh, Permanent Representative of Japan also took place today. During the meeting, ambassador Satoh handed over a letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, as a reply to the President's letter to all foreign ministers on the issue of Security Council reform.

Mr. Holkeri met with the new Permanent Representative of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, H.E. Mr. Srgjan Kerim, who paid a courtesy call.

Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, Chairman of the Austrian Social Democratic Party paid a courtesy call to the President.
