The President today met with the two vice-chairmen of the working group on Security Council reform, Ambassador Thosteinn Ingolfsson of Iceland and Ambassador John de Saram of Sri Lanka. Their discussion focused on the next session of the working group - the final one during this General Assembly - which will take place next week.

The President today had a working lunch with the President of the Security Council for the month of July, H.E. Mr. Wang Yingfan of the People's Republic of China. They discussed the working programme of the Council in July, as well as current issues on the GA agenda.

The President met with H.E. Gabriel Valdes, Permanent Representative of Chile, the facilitator on the issue of revitalizing the General Assembly. They discussed the current state of play on that issue, including preparations for the next round of Plenary informals slated for 26 July.

The President also met with Mr. Patrick Hayford, Director for African Affairs in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General, to discuss the work of the open-ended working group of the General Assembly on Africa.
