The President had a telephone conversation with the Secretary-General about the Third UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries. The President was happy to confirm to the Secretary-General his participation in the Conference.

The Open-ended Working Group on Security Council reform met today for the fourth time this week. The discussion on the working methods of the Council was continued.

A meeting between the President and Mr. and Mrs. Raimo Ilaskivi and Mr. and Mrs. Pentti Kivinen took place today. Mr. Ilaskivi is the former Lord Mayor of the City of Helsinki and a former Member of the European Parliament. Mr. Kivinen is Managing Director of the Finnish Fair Corporation.

Later in the day the President and Mrs. Holkeri attended a dinner, hosted by H.E. Mr. Wang Yingfan, Permanent Representative of China. The dinner was held in connection to President’s recent visit to China
