The ongoing preparations for the General Assembly Special
session on HIV/AIDS were in focus during the President’s meeting
with the facilitators of the preparatory process, Ambassador
Penny Wensley of Australia and Ambassador Ibrahim Deguene
Ka of Senegal.
The President today presided over third meeting of the week-long
session of the Open-ended Working Group on Security Council
reform. The focus on the meeting was on the working methods
of the Council.
Mr. Holkeri today also met with the President of the Economic
and Social Council (ECOSOC), H.E. Mr. Martin Belinga-Eboutou
of Cameroon. They discussed issues related to strengthened
General Assembly-ECOSOC cooperation.
The President attended to a luncheon, hosted by H.E. Mr. Samir.
S. Shibabi, President of the Council of Presidents of the
General Assembly. They discussed the Council's annual meeting
in New York next week.
Later in the day the President attended to a reception to
celebrate the 51st Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration,
hosted by the Chargé d’affaires of the Delegation of the European
Commission to the UN and Mrs. Richard Wyatt.
