The President met with H.E. Arthur C.I. Mbanefo, Permanent Representative of Nigeria. They discussed issues related to improving the working methods of the General Assembly, the Open-ended Working Group on Security Council reform and the work of the Africa Working Group.

The President had a meeting with H.E. Abdallah Baali, Permanent Representative of Algeria. Among issues discussed were the Africa Working Group and improving the working methods of the General Assembly.

During a meeting with H.E. Ahmed Aboulgheit, Permanent Representative of Egypt, the President took up the issue of improving the working methods of the General Assembly, as well as work of the Africa Working Group.

President Holkeri today met with H.E. President Martti Ahtisaari, who is a former President of Finland. Before Mr. Ahtisaari was elected President of the Republic, he held a number of high-level posts in the UN, including that of the Under-Secretary-General for management.

Later in the day the President attended a dinner in honour of H.E. President Martti Ahtisaari, hosted by H.E. Mr. Jukka Leino, Consul General of Finland.
