The General Assembly adopted a resolution on cooperation between
the United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
The General Assembly welcomed the efforts made by the IPU
to provide enhanced support to the United Nations and called
for the cooperation between the two organizations to be further
consolidated. Earlier in the day, the President met with the
Secretary-General of the IPU, Mr. Anders Johnsson. A photograph
of their meeting can be viewed on the "Photos" page.
The President also met with a group of British parliamentarians
visiting the United Nations. During the meeting, a lively
discussion about current UN affairs took place.
The President continued his visits to different committees
by visiting the Third and Fourth Committees. The Third committee
is in the process of finalizing its work. The President listened
to the introductions of several resolutions dealing with human
rights in various parts of the world. A number of these resolutions
still need further work by the delegations in order to find
a consensus solution to them.
The President visited the Fourth Committee (Special Political
and Decolonisation Committee) in order to listen to the debate
on the Comprehensive review of the question of peacekeeping
operations.

of the International Civil Service Commission, Mr. Mohsen

the International Civil Service Commission.
The President was the guest of honor in a dinner hosted by
