The President received a courtesy call from the newly appointed Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian affairs, Mr. Kenzo Oshima.

During his meeting with the President, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Argentina, H.E. Mr. Adalberto Rodriquez Giavarini, expressed his country's commitment to UN peacekeeping operations. He also gave support to the President's efforts to strengthen the effectiveness of the General Assembly.

The President had a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Ireland, H.E. Mr. Richard Ryan, and the Permanent Representative of Belgium, H.E. Mr. Andre Adam. They discussed the reform of the Security Council.

The President also met with the executive trustees of the American-Scandinavian Foundation.

Later in the day the President attended a reception on the occasion of the 22nd Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, hosted by the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Hadi Nejad Hosseinian.
