The President today held the last one of his monthly meetings with the Chairpersons of the five Regional Groups. Arrangements for the Special Session on Children as well as the two remaining plenary meetings of ongoing 55th session were among issues discussed during the meeting. The President today presided over meeting of the General Committee. The committee decided to include an additional item of "Observer Status for Partners in Population and Development in the General Assembly" in the agenda on of the next session. Working methods of the committee were also discussed during the meeting and President noted that he would forward all the suggestions made by the members of the committee for the consideration of the incoming General Committee in order to facilitate their work.

Mr. Holkeri today met with Mr. Chen Jian, Under-Secretary-General of the Department of General Assembly Affairs and Conference Services.

Later in the day the President attended to a reception, hosted by H.E. Mr. Li Hyong Chol, Permanent Representative of Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on the occasion of the National Day of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
