The President attended the Fourth High-Level Meeting on Cooperation between the United Nations and Regional Organizations. Representatives of 18 regional and sub-regional organizations are attending this meeting on 6 and 7 February. The theme for this year's meeting is "Cooperation for Peace-building".

Later the President attended a luncheon for the participants of the 4th UN-Regional Organizations High Level Meeting, hosted by the Secretary-General of the United Nations, H.E. Mr. Kofi Annan.

The President met with the two vice-chairpersons of the Open-ended Working Group on the Security Council Reform, H.E. Mr. Thorsteinn Ingólfsson, Permanent Representative of Iceland, and H.E. Mr. John de Saram, Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka, to discuss the work of the Open-ended Working Group.

The president also met with H.E. Mr. Conrad S.M. Mselle, Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ). They discussed issues related to financing of UN peace operations, as well as other questions on the ACABQ's agenda during its winter session.
