The President met with the Permanent Representative of Cuba, H.E. Mr. Bruno Rodriquez Parrilla. During their meeting, a wide range of issues, including follow-up to the Millennium Summit and implementation of the recommendations of the Brahimi report, was discussed.

During his meeting with the Permanent Representative of Canada, H. E. Mr. Paul Heinbecker, the President took up a number of appointments to open-ended working groups and consultative processes that he intends to announce in the coming days. The discussion also touched upon the implementation of the Brahimi report, as well as the venue of the Rio+10 conference.

The President attended vin d'honneur, hosted by the Permanent Representative of Thailand, H.E. Mr. Asda Jayanama, on the occasion of the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the King of Thailand and the National Day of Thailand.

The President and Mrs. Holkeri hosted a luncheon on the occasion of the Finnish Food Festival in the Delegates' Dining Room at the United Nations Headquarters. The President's remarks at the luncheon are available on the "Statements and Messages" page.

The President attended cocktails hosted by the Consul General of Finland, H.E. Mr. Jukka Leino.

Later in the day the President and Mrs. Holkeri attended dinner in their honor, hosted by the Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Wang Yingfan.
