The President met with the Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mr. Hadi Nejad Hosseinian. Views on the initiative "Dialogue among Civilizations", which is the theme for year 2001, were exchanged. Also the follow-up to the Millennium Summit was discussed during their meeting.

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations Disarmament Conference in Geneva, H.E. Dr. Markku Reimaa briefed the President about the current discussion in the First Committee on disarmament issues.

Mr. Holkeri signed the Book of Condolences for the Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Dominica, Honourable Roosevelt Douglas, who died earlier this week.
