The President today presided over a meeting of the Open-ended Ad Hoc Working Group on the Causes of Conflict and the Promotion of Durable Peace and Sustainable Development in Africa. This was the fourth meeting of this week's session of the Working Group. The discussion on conflict prevention and post-conflict peace-building was continued from yesterday.

The President also had a series of meetings in connection with the ongoing informal consultations on the draft declaration of commitment of the Special Session of the GA on HIV/AIDS. He met with the facilitators of the process, Ambassadors Wensley of Australia and Ka of Senegal and, later on, with the Permanent Representative of Benin, Ambassador Adechi, and with the Permanent Representative of Malaysia, Ambassador Hasmy.
