John F. S. Muwanga (Uganda)
Mr. Muwanga is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, United Kingdom and a Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda. He also holds a Master of Science degree (MSc ) in accounting from the University of Glamorgan (Wales -UK).
Mr. Muwanga is currently the Auditor-General of Uganda. He served previously in this same position from 2001 to 2006 before leaving to serve as Deputy Head of the Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability (PEFA) Secretariat, based in Washington, D.C. until July 2007.
Mr Muwanga’s experience also extends to other areas of the public sector where he held several positions in the Government’s Economic and Financial Management Project’s (a World Bank project) as Internal Adviser; Commissioner/ Treasury Officer of Accounts and Director of Accounts.
When Mr. Muwanga graduated as a Certified Accountant in Great Britain in 1980 he joined the London office of Coopers & Lybrand (now known as PriceWaterhouseCoopers) and went further to hold positions as Partner and Resident Partner of Coopers & Lybrand’s practices in Lusaka and Kitwe in Zambia.
