The main aim of the Union is to organize all health workers in Uganda and provide a united forum for negotiation and representation so as to improve the terms, conditions and quality of service in the health sector. Its programs include capacity building, advocacy against occupational health hazards and protection of rights and interests of its members. Their AIDS related work involve sensitization of staff and community to the issues, training union leaders on HIV in the workplace, counseling programs, social marketing of condoms, diagnosis and treatment of STDs and rendering volunteer work in community-based organizations.
