Background

This item was included in the agenda of the sixty-first session of the General Assembly, in 2006, as a supplementary item at the request of Azerbaijan, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine (A/61/195).

At its resumed sixty-first session, in September 2007, the General Assembly decided to defer consideration of the item and to include it in the draft agenda of its sixty-second session (decision 61/565).
