Election by the General Assembly of five non-permanent members
of the Security Council for 2006-2007 (10 October 2005).
They are: Congo, Ghana, Peru, Qatar and Slovakia.

ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL
On 17 October 2005, the General Assembly elected 18 new
members to the Economic and Social Council, for terms beginning
on 1 January 2006. The newly elected members of the Council
are: Angola, Austria, Benin, Cuba, Czech Republic, France,
Germany, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Japan, Madagascar,
Mauritania, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sri Lanka and

INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
On 7 November 2005, the General Assembly (and the Security
Council) elected 5 new members to the Court, for nine-year
terms beginning on 6 February 2006. The
newly elected members are: Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand,
Russian Federation and United States of America.
