ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL
On 17 October 2005, the General Assembly elected 18 new members to the Economic and Social Council, for terms beginning on 1 January 2006. The newly elected members of the Council are: Angola, Austria, Benin, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Guinea-Bissau, Guyana, Haiti, Japan, Madagascar, Mauritania, Paraguay, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Sri Lanka and Turkey. INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE
