Election
of the President of the fifty-ninth session, Vice-Presidents,
Chairs and Bureaux of the Main Committees
Thursday,
10 June 2004, at 10 a.m.(New York time), the General Assembly
held a plenary meeting to elect the President of the General
Assembly for the fifty-ninth session (agenda
item 4).
Immediately thereafter, the Main Committees held their consecutive
meetings for the purpose of electing their Chairpersons
for the fifth-ninth session (agenda
item 5), and for the first time this year, and in accordance
with paragraph 9, Annex B of resolution A/RES/58/126
of 19 December 2003, the full Bureaux of the Main Committees
were also elected at that time.
Immediately following the Main Committee meetings, the General
Assembly held another plenary meeting to elect the Vice-Presidents
of the fifty-ninth session (agenda
item 6).
