This morning, the President of the General Assembly held his first working meeting with the Secretary-General. It was a get acquainted session and gave an opportunity to exchange views on their respective expectations from the 53rd session.

This afternoon, the President will chair the second plenary meeting, which will take up the first report of the General Committee, dealing with the organization of work of the session, adoption of the agenda and allocation of items (A/53/250).

On Thursday, the Assembly will hold two plenary meetings as part of the high level dialogue on the theme of social and economic impact of globalization and interdependence and their policy implications. So far 42 speakers have been inscribed and the list should be out later today.
