No plenary meetings are scheduled for today. On Monday morning, the plenary will first take up the question of Falkland Islands/Malvinas, before consideration of the reports of the Fifth Committee regarding the financing of the UN Mission in Western Sahara, Mission of Observers in Tajikistan and the UN Preventive Deployment Force. It will then consider the report of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which will be introduced by the Director-General, Mr. Mohamed El- Baradei. A draft resolution on this item (A/53/L.18) will be introduced by Slovenia, and so far 19 other speakers have been inscribed to address the Assembly on this item. For those who have asked me, item 168 "Dialogue among civilizations" will be considered in the plenary in the morning of 4 November.

Regarding the work of the Main Committees, the First Committee will hold two meetings today to continue the consideration of items 63 to 80 of its agenda and introduction of draft resolutions on these items. The Second Committee will hold two meetings today. After the introduction of two draft resolutions on environment and sustainable development and on the permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the occupied territories, including Jerusalem, and the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources, the Committee will resume and conclude later in the day its general discussion of trade and development under the item Macroeconomic policy questions. It will also begin consideration of the implementation of the Programme of Action for the Least Developed Countries for the 1990s, under the item Sustainable development and international economic cooperation. The Third Committee began this morning with informal consultations and then in the formal meeting resumed consideration of the human rights questions. It was also scheduled to take action on four draft resolutions regarding the issue of Advancement of women. The Fifth Committee was scheduled to conclude this morning the consideration of the thematic reports of the Office of Internal Oversight Services and of the Joint Inspection Unit, and then go into informal consultations of the Development account. And finally, the Sixth Committee will hold informal consultations this afternoon on draft resolution entitled Implementation of the provisions of the Charter of the United Nations related to assistance to third States affected by the application of sanctions.
