No plenary meetings are scheduled for today or tomorrow.
The First Committee continues its general debate this morning, with 11 speakers inscribed in the list. The Special Political and Decolonization Committee is scheduled to elect its Rapporteur this afternoon, which would complete the bureaus of all the Main Committees at the fifty-third session. At tomorrow's briefing I will have for you a complete listing of all the officers of the Main Committees. Following the election, The Special Political and Decolonization Committee will continue the debate on effects of atomic radiation (item 81). The Second Committee began this morning the discussion of the issue of sustainable development and international economic cooperation, and this afternoon will hold informal consultations on several drafts under item 91 -- macroeconomic policy questions. The Third Committee will conclude today its consideration of the Advancement of women and of the Implementation of the outcome of the Fourth World Conference on Women, with meetings scheduled both in the morning and in the afternoon. This morning the Fifth Committee is holding informal consultations on the financing of the UN Mission of Observers in Tajikistan, UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara and of the UN Preventive Deployment Force. This afternoon, it will take action on the draft regarding the support account for peacekeeping operations and then begin consideration of the patern of conferences (item 117). It will also hold informal consultations on development planning. The Sixth Committee will meet this afternoon to consider the report of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and strengthening of the role of the Organization.
