There are no plenary meetings scheduled for today. Tomorrow morning, the Assembly will take up the consideration of item 29 -- Necessity of ending economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba. There are 15 speakers inscribed in the list so far. The Assembly will have before it a report of the Secretary-General contained in document A/53/320 and Add.1+2, and a draft resolution which will be introduced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba and is contained in document A/53/L.6.
As regards the work of the main committees, the First Committee is continuing its general debate and it will hear seven speakers this morning. This afternoon, the Special Political and Decolonization Committee is expected to take action on one draft decision and five draft resolutions on decolonization issues. The Second Committee will continue the discussion of macroeconomic policy questions (introducing the discussion of the issue of Commodities) and open the discussion of sectoral policy questions, including business and development and industrial development cooperation. This morning, the Third Committee will continue the general discussion of crime prevention and criminal justice and of the international drug control, and this afternoon it is expected to take action on two drafts on this issue as well as on a draft regarding social development -- namely regarding the International Year of Older Persons. The Fifth Committee will hold informal consultations both in the morning and the afternoon regarding the support account for peacekeeping operations and gratis personnel. The Sixth Committee will continue this afternoon the discussion of the report of the International Law Commission and then proceed with informal consultations on oceans and the Law of the Sea.
