
The third session of the World Youth Forum of the United Nations will be held in Braga, Portugal, on 2 - 6 August 1998. Around 500 delegates from youth and student movements and organisations around the world will meet with representatives of the United Nations system and other inter-governmental organisations.
The key objective is to improve the channels of communication and strengthen mechanisms for cooperation between the United Nations system, other inter-governmental organisations and youth organisations based on the goal: Youth Participation for Human Development.
Each working group at the Forum will establish mechanisms for future networking and cooperation and will present recommendations to relevant organisations - to the United Nations system, to other inter-governmental organisations and to the youth organisations themselves. The Forum will also to present its report and recommendations to the first ever World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth which will be held the week after the Forum (8-12 August) in Lisbon and, in addition, the overall result will be presented to the United Nations General Assembly.
